One of the best ways to achieve the desired level of safety and protection is through the use of our Black Elastic Dance Floor Underlayment Roll.

This is an anti fatigue type of floor that provides a softer surface for dance practices and performances than the roll of PVC plastic or vinyl dance floor alone.

By placing the roll of dance floor underlayment underneath the dance flooring, the dancers will receive a nice level of cushioning. They can practice for longer sessions without feeling fatigued, and they can come back the next day and be ready for another workout without needing off days.

Even though this is a very thin underlayment, it provides protection from leg fatigue. Having a little bit of cushion in the underlay protects the hip, ankle, and knee joints of the dancers, reducing the chances of long-term injuries and soreness.

Creating a Safe Dance Surface Anywhere

When dance troupes or teams are planning a series of performances, they never can be quite sure what type of flooring they will encounter from venue to venue.

Sometimes, a performance at a theatre will involve a hard tile or wood floor on the stage. This is why dance troupes often will carry their own portable reversible marley dance flooring from the studio to the performance venue.

For teams already carrying a roll of vinyl dance floor to the theater, bringing along this roll of dance floor underlayment is a smart idea. Teams then can install a padded surface over the extremely hard stage floor before adding the dance floor roll over the top.

Upon installation of the underlay, rather than risking injury from an extremely hard subfloor at the theatre, the dancers will transform the original hard floor, creating a far safer environment.

Our dance floor underlayment roll has more than 500 square feet of coverage area, which is similar to the coverage that a roll of vinyl dance floor provides. This simplifies the process of pairing the two together at any type of dance venue.

This underlay roll measures just 4.5 mm, so it’s easy to cut through the material to fit the available space. Similar to what often must occur in a layout of a PVC plastic roll of dance floor, installers may have to place the underlayment in side by side strips to cover the space for the performance.

To adhere this material to the subfloor safely, use vinyl tape around the perimeter and along each of the seams.

Versatile Elastic Underlayment Product

Each roll of cushioned elastic consists of a 90% PVC and 10% polyester material blend, giving it the desired level of cushioning.

The underlayment material is not only usable for performance venues. In the studio setting, it works nicely for creating a safe practice space underneath the existing dance floor.

Some of our customers even choose to use this elastic underlay underneath vinyl plank flooring in a home setting. It offers some noise reduction capabilities, which is ideal for areas like a home gym, where exercise equipment or free weights can generate unwanted noise.

This material has the versatility required for dance studio layouts and residential or office building uses. For maximum cushioning and noise reduction qualities, customers may prefer a thicker rubber underlayment roll. But for those who want an extremely thin underlay that does the job well, this is a popular choice.

Maintenance and Care

When deploying our dance floor underlayment, keep in mind that it does not have a design made for serving as the primary surface flooring in a space. When used properly, it will sit underneath the primary vinyl dance flooring roll.

This means customers should not allow people to walk across the material in hard shoes. In fact, customers should try to limit the amount of time this elastic floor receives direct exposure to foot traffic.

The mesh finish texture in the roll provides a desirable level of cushion and padding for dancers working on their skills. However, because of the uneven surface, it also will collect quite a bit of dust and dry debris from the soles of shoes that make it difficult to clean.

When using this underlayment, place it on the subfloor first and secure it with vinyl tape. Then immediately place the marley dance floor over the top. The less potential exposure it has to people walking on it, the better level of performance it will deliver.

This roll of cushioned marley underlay carries a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty. However, as long as the customer takes care of it and protects it from exposure to regular foot traffic, it should provide a far longer lifespan than a year.
